Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the messaging backbone of the platform, the full-time remote Senior Software Engineer will deploy and operate Kafka and Schema Registry on OpenShift, redesign integrations from cloud queue services, and build shared client patterns to ensure reliable messaging at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and manage Kafka and Schema Registry, including topic design, retention policies, and security management
• Redesign cloud queue service integrations onto self-hosted brokers, establishing repeatable patterns for numerous producer and consumer touchpoints
• Build and maintain shared client libraries for messaging, incorporating features like retries, dead-letter queues, and ordering guarantees

Required qualifications

• B.E., B.Tech., M.Sc. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 5+ years of backend or data infrastructure experience with significant production Kafka ownership
• Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes, preferably with Strimzi, and managing schema evolution
• Hands-on experience with additional broker technologies such as RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ
• Professional development experience in Java, Python, or Go
