Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Operating remotely, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and manage API services and backend systems for GitHub's Copilot platform, ensuring scalability and security while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Sessions and Tasks APIs that support various Copilot agent surfaces
• Own and evolve the agent registry and remote steering model, implementing policies for session management
• Drive API design specifications and coordinate schema changes across client and platform teams

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline with proven experience in production software coding
• 3+ years of experience in Go (or Ruby) and working with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP
• 3+ years of experience building and operating distributed backend systems, including API design and data modeling
• 2+ years of experience designing public or partner-facing APIs, focusing on versioning and backward compatibility
• Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
