Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Driving innovation in search technology, the remote Senior Software Engineer will design and enhance technical strategies for search systems, collaborating with ML and product teams to improve search latency and relevance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and adapt the technical strategy for search, leveraging full-text search, vector databases, LLMs, NLP, and relevance algorithms
• Improve search latency and relevance through innovative solutions
• Collaborate with product engineers, designers, and mission strategists to translate user needs into data-informed search innovations

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in backend software development, with 3+ years in search or information retrieval
• Expertise in information retrieval, NLP, and machine learning concepts such as indexing, ranking, and vector search
• Hands-on experience with major search engines (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch) and familiarity with search evaluation frameworks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with leadership capabilities
• U.S. Person status required for access to U.S. only data systems
