Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
Joining the Client Apps Platform team, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will build and operate Ruby and Go services, drive architectural discussions, and translate client requirements into shared platform solutions while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, extend, and operate production-level Ruby and Go services for client applications
- Lead technical design discussions and document architectural tradeoffs across teams
- Collaborate with domain teams to integrate with GitHub's Ruby on Rails monolith and drive extraction of common functionality
Required qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline with proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, or Python
- 5 years of experience in software and system design for scalable, reliable services
- 5 years of experience facilitating cross-team technical discussions
- 5 years of proven experience maintaining and operating live services, including incident response
- Strong understanding of testing strategies, success metrics, and service health monitoring
