Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will modernize legacy applications, primarily focusing on Java backend development while independently solving complex system issues and mentoring junior engineers.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as a highly independent contributor, tackling complex legacy systems with minimal guidance
- Proactively gather requirements and functionality from stakeholders and existing codebases
- Diagnose and resolve system issues, reducing technical debt and improving reliability
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of education
- Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience in backend engineering with Java
- Proven ability to work independently with complex legacy systems, such as JSP-templated monoliths
- Strong skills in proactively defining requirements in environments with limited guidance
