Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance Airbnb's data infrastructure, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will focus on building and operating a NewSQL database, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve performance, reliability, and migration processes in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct deep technical investigations of database internals and address SQL latency and availability issues
• Design and implement traffic prioritization for connection pooling at the storage layer
• Develop frameworks for monitoring, observability, and service discovery integration of the NewSQL database

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating large-scale distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with database or storage internals, including query execution and replication
• Proven ability to navigate and contribute to complex codebases, preferably open-source
• Experience in maintaining and debugging high-severity production incidents
• Strong track record of ownership and delivery in a collaborative remote setting
