Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Job Summary

To build scalable backend systems for payment processing, the full-time Senior Software Engineer, Backend will design and implement fault-tolerant services using Go, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance Coinbase's payment capabilities in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant backend services for payment processing, ensuring high reliability for financial transactions
• Own end-to-end delivery of payment features, from technical design through production deployment and monitoring
• Drive improvements to system reliability and performance across payment services while contributing to engineering quality through code reviews and best practices

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering with a focus on production services in a service-oriented or microservices architecture
• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages, with experience in designing scalable, low-latency APIs and distributed systems
• Track record of owning features end-to-end in a fast-moving environment
• Experience with financial systems or high-volume transactional systems requiring precision and auditability
• Utilization of generative AI responsibly to enhance workflow efficiency and quality
