Senior Software Engineer in Test

Job Summary

Owning quality engineering for the Commerce product surface, the full-time Senior Software Engineer in Test will execute manual QA, build automation infrastructure, and define quality standards for Shopify-embedded products in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the quality gate for Commerce feature releases by writing and executing test plans and running structured regression passes
• Build an end-to-end test suite covering key customer journeys, integrating it into CI to catch regressions on every PR
• Define the quality strategy for Shopify-specific products, ensuring a mix of automated and manual coverage across various merchant themes

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test or quality engineer in a production software environment
• Proficiency in TypeScript with real production experience across test frameworks and CI tooling
• Experience building and maintaining end-to-end test automation suites using Playwright or Cypress
• Strong manual QA methodology, including writing test plans and executing structured regression passes
• Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitHub Actions or equivalent
