Senior Software Engineer - Security

Job Summary

Contributing to core security initiatives, the full-time Senior Software Engineer - Security will focus on the architecture and design of Elasticsearch's security features, including authentication and authorization, while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the technical design, planning, and execution of major security components within the Elasticsearch core engine
• Optimize security performance at scale in distributed systems and apply cryptographic solutions for customer use cases
• Collaborate with the InfoSec team to manage vulnerabilities and embed security into new customer features from the outset

Required qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management, with experience in high-performance, thread-safe coding
• Experience building scalable authorization systems and understanding distributed systems security principles
• Familiarity with edge identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and SAML
• Proven track record of leveraging AI to enhance development and optimize code
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate across functions in a distributed team environment
