Senior Substation Designer

Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Senior Substation Designer will produce detailed 3D models and design packages for high and extra high voltage substations, collaborating with engineers and interpreting vendor information with minimal guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Generate comprehensive 3D models and drawings for substation design, including equipment plans and grounding details
• Incorporate vendor information into design deliverables and conduct walkdowns at client substation facilities
• Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and SDS to create accurate and compliant designs

Required qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Drafting or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical experience with a high school diploma and 5+ years of 3D drafting coursework
• At least 10 years of experience in preparing 3D substation models and physical design
• Proficiency in 3D design software including AutoCAD, Inventor, P4A, and SDS
• Ability to visualize 3D layouts based on client and IEEE standards
• Experience following CAD standards in design work
