Senior Systems Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will perform high-level operational support of complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational support and troubleshoot system outages for scientific workstations
• Document issues and maintain system configurations while implementing continuous improvement methodologies
• Collaborate with users and senior management to communicate the status of key problems and ensure system reliability

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, with a focus on production environments
• Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
• Strong experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with system administration tasks
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation
