Senior Systems Engineer (AWS)

Job Summary

To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Cloud Application) will build and integrate cloud-native application services, manage healthcare transaction processing, and leverage AWS-managed services in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and back-end services for healthcare data processing
• Implement event-driven workflows and integrate with internal platform APIs to ensure reliable data delivery
• Write clean, testable code and actively participate in peer code reviews while applying modern software engineering best practices

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with a focus on back-end engineering
• Proficiency in backend development languages such as .Net/C#, Go, Python, Java, or NodeJS
• Demonstrated understanding of AWS-native application patterns and cloud integrations
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs in healthcare or distributed-system environments
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
