Senior Underwriter, Affordable Housing

Job Summary

Independently managing complex multifamily transactions, the remote Senior Associate, Underwriting will lead the underwriting process for affordable housing investments, applying strong credit judgment and financial analysis from initial intake through to Investment Committee approval and closing.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the screening and underwriting of active transactions, conducting advanced financial and credit analysis
• Prepare and present comprehensive due diligence and credit memoranda to the Investment Committee, articulating transaction structure and risks
• Collaborate with various teams throughout the transaction lifecycle, providing technical guidance and supporting post-closing handoffs to Asset Management

Required qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in affordable housing finance, commercial banking, or community development lending, with significant underwriting experience
• Proven ability to independently manage complex multifamily real estate transactions from evaluation through to closing
• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and credit analysis
• Experience presenting transactions to credit or investment committees
• Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent transactions with sound credit judgment
