Senior USDA Underwriter

Job Summary

Reviewing and evaluating conventional, FHA, VA, and specialty product loans, the full-time Senior USDA Underwriter will assess credit worthiness, manage risk, and ensure compliance with lending guidelines in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough loan file reviews, including credit analysis, asset and debt evaluation, and collateral review
• Ensure compliance with federal and state lending laws and guidelines, issuing conditional approvals as necessary
• Communicate effectively with Loan Originators, Processors, and other stakeholders regarding underwriting decisions and guidelines

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years' experience underwriting conventional, FHA, and VA mortgage loans
• Direct Endorsement (DE) certification and Staff Appraisal Reviewer/Lender Appraisal Processing Program (SAR/LAPP) certification preferred
• Strong understanding of investor, agency, and government guidelines
• Proficient in computer skills and able to maintain sensitive and confidential information
