Senior WordPress Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled Senior WordPress Engineer for a full-time remote position, responsible for developing custom WordPress themes and plugins, optimizing site performance and security, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, and integrations while ensuring compliance with coding standards and best practices
• Optimize WordPress sites for speed and scalability, collaborating with DevOps teams on performance audits and CI/CD pipelines
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to APIs, performance, and security, providing technical recommendations during project planning

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in custom WordPress development and backend engineering
• Strong command of PHP 7/8, MySQL, and modern web technologies including REST APIs and JavaScript frameworks
• Deep knowledge of WordPress architecture, security best practices, and performance optimization techniques
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and experience with CI/CD workflows
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
