Job Summary
To support early manufacturing engineering and throughput architecture, the contract Simulation Engineer will build and analyze discrete event simulation models remotely, guiding factory and line design decisions for the R2 ramp in Normal.
Key responsibilities
- Build discrete event simulation models (FlexSim preferred) for manufacturing and material flow use cases
- Translate high-level factory requirements into simulation-ready input assumptions and scenarios
- Run scenario and sensitivity studies to confirm line and shop net JPH vs. targets and summarize results for leadership
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing engineering with ownership of discrete event simulation projects
- Expert level proficiency with Autodesk FlexSim
- Demonstrated experience modeling multiline assembly systems and conducting throughput/capacity analysis
- Solid understanding of manufacturing KPIs such as JPH, JPS, and OEE/TEE
- Ability to clean and structure input data and explain model limitations and assumptions
