Simulation Engineer - OpenFOAM

Job Summary

Seeking a remote freelance Simulation Engineer - OpenFOAM / OpenSees, who will develop and execute CFD simulations and nonlinear structural analysis models while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and run CFD simulations using OpenFOAM for fluid flow and multiphysics problems
• Build and execute nonlinear structural and seismic analysis models using OpenSees
• Validate simulation results against experimental data and document methodologies for stakeholders

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural/Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred
• Proficiency with OpenFOAM for CFD applications and/or OpenSees for structural/seismic analysis
• Strong understanding of continuum mechanics, finite element methods, and computational fluid dynamics fundamentals
• Experience working in Linux environments and using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Tcl
• Ability to interpret and evaluate simulation results with engineering judgment
