Job Summary
To enhance platform reliability and performance for millions of readers, the full-time remote Site Reliability Engineer will apply a software engineering mindset to solve complex infrastructure challenges, manage production services, and optimize application performance.
Key responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, using data to inform reliability work
- Collaborate with the backend team to optimize application performance, refactor inefficient code, and improve overall system efficiency
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a similar role involving infrastructure management
- Deep experience managing applications on Heroku and AWS
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform
- Strong coding skills with experience in Ruby on Rails, including performance optimization
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools like New Relic or Sentry
