Site Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time remote Site Reliability Engineer, the candidate will manage the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, optimize application performance, and collaborate on CI/CD pipeline improvements while supporting a team focused on enhancing reading habits globally.

Key responsibilities

• Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services, proactively identifying and resolving issues using monitoring tools
• Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, using data to inform reliability decisions
• Collaborate with the backend team to optimize application and database performance, refactoring inefficient code and contributing to system improvements

Required qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
• Deep experience with applications on Heroku and AWS
• Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
• Strong coding skills, with experience in diagnosing and fixing performance issues in a Ruby on Rails environment
