Site Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

Joining a collaborative team remotely, the full-time Site Reliability Engineer will enhance platform reliability and performance for millions of readers by automating solutions, managing production services, and optimizing application performance.

Key responsibilities

• Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, proactively identifying and resolving issues
• Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, using data to inform reliability work
• Collaborate with the backend team to optimize application performance and improve CI/CD pipelines

Required qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability, DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
• Deep experience managing applications on Heroku and AWS
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform
• Strong coding skills with experience in Ruby on Rails, focusing on performance optimization
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools like New Relic or Sentry
