Job Summary
To enhance platform reliability and performance for millions of readers, the full-time remote Site Reliability Engineer will apply software engineering principles to manage production services, optimize application performance, and improve CI/CD pipelines.
Key responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, utilizing monitoring tools for issue resolution
- Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, using data to inform reliability discussions
- Collaborate with the backend team to refactor code and optimize application and database performance
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
- Deep experience with Heroku and AWS applications
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
- Strong coding skills and experience diagnosing performance issues in a Ruby on Rails environment
