Job Summary
To enhance platform reliability and performance for millions of readers, the full-time remote Site Reliability Engineer will apply a software engineering mindset to solve complex infrastructure challenges, optimize application performance, and collaborate closely with the engineering team.
Key responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services on Heroku and AWS, using monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues
- Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, utilizing data to inform reliability decisions
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, advocating for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
- Deep experience with applications on Heroku and AWS
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically with Terraform
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
- Strong understanding of web application performance, particularly in a Ruby on Rails environment
