Job Summary
To enhance platform reliability and performance for millions of readers, the full-time remote Site Reliability Engineer will manage production services on Heroku and AWS, optimize application performance, and champion developer experience through CI/CD improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the health and performance of production services, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets to drive reliability discussions
- Collaborate with the backend team to improve application performance and refactor inefficient code
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related roles managing infrastructure
- Deep experience with applications on Heroku and AWS
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform
- Strong coding skills and experience in a Ruby on Rails environment
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic or Sentry
