Slovenian Linguist

Job Summary

Supporting sensitive law enforcement efforts, the part-time Slovenian Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from Slovenian to English, ensuring accurate and court-ready documentation while working remotely on an as-needed basis.

Key responsibilities:

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Slovenian and produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions
• Communicate pertinent information to law enforcement personnel in a timely manner during live monitoring
• Build and maintain a master list of slang terms and codes used by specific groups for the duration of the project

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Slovenian
• Knowledge of Slovenian colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
• Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Slovenian
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
