Social and Environmental Standards Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Social and Environmental Standards Technical Specialist for the Africa Region (Home-Based).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and advisory support for the implementation of Social and Environmental Standards (SES) in Country Offices
• Develop and deliver training programs and guidance materials to enhance SES capacities among UNDP staff and partners
• Coordinate with partners and advocate for the importance of SES within UNDP operations

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, or Development Studies
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in environmental and social safeguards/standards
• Demonstrated experience in social and environmental assessments and related risk management plans
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an advantage
• Must reside in an Africa-compatible timezone at the time of contract signature
