Software Architect - Ruby on Rails

Job Summary

Leading the design, development, and maintenance of scalable Ruby on Rails applications, the full-time Associate Architect will work remotely to optimize application performance, drive migration projects, and collaborate with DevOps and product teams on CI/CD practices.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy Rails applications using AWS services and manage Docker-based microservices with Kubernetes
• Drive migration projects from Blackboard to Canvas LMS, ensuring secure and accurate data transfer and API integrations
• Implement monitoring and alerting systems while participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails
• Proven experience in Blackboard to Canvas LMS migration, including data migration and API integrations
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as ECS, EKS, and RDS
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments
• Strong knowledge of application server tuning and performance optimization techniques
