Software Developer III

Job Summary

Focused on backend architecture and real-time systems, the full-time Software Developer III will lead the design and development of backend software for processing weather data flows, while mentoring junior developers and collaborating in an Agile environment, with options to work remotely or from State College, PA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of backend software that processes real-time weather data
• Own end-to-end backend data flows, including monitoring and operational efficiency
• Mentor less experienced developers and drive technical alignment across teams on complex processing solutions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience designing and developing backend software or distributed systems
• Advanced experience with Scala or Java, applying functional programming concepts
• Expertise in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Deep experience with relational database architecture, including schema design and SQL optimization
