Software Development Engineer II

Job Summary

Joining the Studio team as a full-time Software Development Engineer II (Fullstack), the successful candidate will lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, focusing on building workflow tools and solving complex architecture problems while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, ensuring the delivery of performant, testable code
• Facilitate informed technical decisions that align with the long-term vision for maps at Mapbox
• Optimize application performance and reduce technical debt while mentoring teammates and promoting operational excellence

Required qualifications

• Proven experience building client-side applications using React and TypeScript (ES6+) with a strong understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
• 3+ years of experience in building and maintaining scalable backend services and CI/CD pipelines
• Expertise in performance optimization for large-scale, data-intensive applications
• Proficiency in integrating RESTful APIs and a functional understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest to ensure code reliability and performance
