Software Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Software Engineer, either onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area or remote, who will design and build critical systems for PlanetScale's database platform, addressing complex distributed systems challenges and collaborating with customers to deliver robust technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement systems that support high query volumes for large-scale applications
• Collaborate with a team to tackle distributed systems challenges and optimize performance
• Work independently to solve engineering problems while engaging directly with customers

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems
• Strong proficiency in Go, with knowledge of Python, Java, or C++
• Experience with MySQL or other relational databases
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized applications
• Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale
