Job Summary
Welcoming all current and previous incumbents on the EPIC program, the full-time salaried Software Engineer will support NOAA's Earth Prediction Innovation Center by advancing weather modeling, enhancing collaborative development environments, and engaging with the scientific community.
Key responsibilities
- Advance U.S. weather modeling skills and contribute to the Unified Forecast System (UFS)
- Enhance cloud-based development environments for scientists and engineers
- Support community engagement through workshops, tutorials, and open science collaboration
Required qualifications
- Current or previous experience on the EPIC program
- Proficiency in software engineering principles and practices
- Experience with cloud-based development environments
- Familiarity with numerical weather prediction models
- Ability to engage and collaborate with scientific communities
