Software Engineer - Genomics
Job Summary
Working remotely on a contract basis, the Software Engineer - Genomics will implement features and functions in genomics pipelines, collaborating with an Agile SCRUM development team and utilizing bioinformatics tools and workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Implement features and functions in genomics pipelines within an Agile SCRUM environment
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics workflows using languages such as Python, Bash, and Nextflow
- Collaborate with team members on the design, development, and testing of genomics pipeline features
Required qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a software developer with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 7 years with an Associate's degree
- Understanding of BAM, Fastq, VCF, and other genetics files and their contents
- Skilled in BASH, Python, Nextflow, BioInformatics, GATK, and Genomics Pipelines
- Prior bioinformatics experience or education is a plus
- Capable of describing a genetics testing and analysis workflow from DNA extraction through tertiary analysis and patient results reporting
