Software Engineer II

Job Summary

To support the Voice AI Team, the full-time remote Software Engineer II will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for Toast's Voice AI platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance functionality and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient backend services for the Voice AI platform
• Collaborate with team members to develop production-quality software using modern engineering practices
• Participate in architectural discussions and mentor other team members on best coding practices

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with object-oriented languages such as Java or Kotlin
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience delivering high-quality, reliable services or libraries to production
• Familiarity with automated testing, quality assurance, and SDLC best practices for backend systems
• Proficient with relational databases and understanding of distributed systems or microservices
