Software Engineer II

Job Summary

To support the development of the Payara product portfolio, the full-time remote Software Engineer II will design, develop, and enhance core platform capabilities while collaborating with a global engineering team on enterprise Java applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features across the Payara platform, addressing performance, reliability, and security
• Investigate and resolve complex engineering challenges, participating in architectural discussions and defining technical direction
• Build and optimize CI/CD workflows, supporting cloud and platform engineering initiatives

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 4-8 years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise-grade applications or platforms
• Strong Java development expertise and understanding of concurrency and multithreading concepts
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale distributed software systems
• Solid understanding of API design, security principles, and software architecture patterns
