Software Engineer III

Job Summary

Focused on enhancing user experiences, the full-time remote Software Engineer III will improve Wikipedia's product functionality by fixing bugs, implementing new features, and writing multilingual, accessible code primarily in JavaScript and PHP.

Key responsibilities

• Improving the Wikipedia product experience by fixing bugs and implementing new functionality
• Iterating on new features through collaboration with engineers, product managers, designers, and community members
• Building on top of the MediaWiki API ecosystem and instrumenting components to monitor feature behavior and quality

Required qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional or open-source software engineering experience
• Experience with object-oriented development using scripting languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, or Ruby
• Experience writing unit tests and using version control
• A strong aptitude in algorithms and data structures
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or mathematics, or equivalent experience
