Software Engineer - Java, Microservices

Job Summary

Leading a team of software engineers, the full-time remote Software Engineer - Java, Microservices will design, develop, and implement applications while ensuring compliance with development practices and mentoring junior developers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the technical design, coding, and testing of new applications and enhancements, serving as a subject matter expert
• Identify gaps in requirements, evaluate risks, and implement mitigation strategies while improving system performance and availability
• Support project management by estimating technical costs, defining system requirements, and leading transformation initiatives to new software architectures

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or 4 additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
• 5 years of experience in software design, development, testing, and requirements management
• Proficiency in developing microservices and APIs using technologies such as Spring, REST, and SOAP
• Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud services such as AWS or Azure
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL systems
