Software Engineer, Networking

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Software Engineer, Networking to work remotely on the Dataplane Engineering Team, where the candidate will design and enhance client connectivity features, resolve complex networking issues, and collaborate on scalable network solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and document core client-side networking software for Tailscale
• Advance product features by integrating established network protocols with Tailscale's frameworks
• Provide expert consultation and support for critical network escalations within customer environments

Required Qualifications

• Significant experience with networking software and diagnosing networking issues
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking engineering, including routing, VPNs, and NAT traversal
• Proficiency in Go or other low-level programming languages, with a focus on concurrent programming
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and low-level OS network stacks is highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment
