Software Engineer, User Authentication

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time remote Software Engineer, User Authentication, who will design and implement authentication and authorization systems, evolve authorization models, and manage the security experience across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship authentication and authorization systems, including SSO and fine-grained permission models
• Evolve Render's authorization model to provide clear permissions for various platform resources
• Operate and maintain authentication systems, ensuring observability and safe rollouts

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience shipping and operating production systems
• Experience building customer-facing authentication or authorization features
• Proficient in designing systems where correctness and availability are critical
• Ability to balance security and product tradeoffs effectively
• Track record of managing ambiguous projects from design through production
