Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading a team of five engineers, the full-time Software Engineering Manager for Observability will define strategies for instrumentation standards, optimize observability platforms, and explore AI-driven approaches to enhance system visibility and efficiency, with the flexibility to work remotely within the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the engineering team responsible for the reliability and scalability of Figma's observability platforms
• Own and operate the core observability stack, ensuring high availability and effective data quality across metrics, logs, and traces
• Define and drive technical strategies for instrumentation standards and cost transparency initiatives

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience leading infrastructure, observability, or platform engineering teams
• Deep hands-on experience with modern observability platforms such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and incident response workflows
• Experience with cost attribution, budgeting, and forecasting in cloud environments
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and drive cross-functional alignment
