Job Summary

Leading a team of five engineers, the full-time salaried Software Engineering Manager for Observability will define strategies for instrumentation standards and cost transparency while optimizing observability systems and exploring AI-driven solutions, all in a remote capacity within the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the reliability and scalability of Figma's observability and cost engineering platforms
• Define and implement technical strategies for instrumentation standards and observability libraries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system health visibility and cost efficiency

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience leading infrastructure, observability, or platform engineering teams
• Deep hands-on experience with modern observability platforms like Datadog and OpenTelemetry
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and incident response workflows
• Experience with cost transparency initiatives, including budgeting and forecasting
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and drive cross-functional alignment
