Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading a team of five engineers, the full-time Software Engineering Manager will oversee the development and operation of observability and cost engineering platforms, defining strategies for instrumentation standards and optimizing system performance while working remotely within the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team focused on the reliability and scalability of observability platforms
• Own and operate the core observability stack, ensuring high availability and data quality
• Define the technical strategy for instrumentation standards and explore AI-driven approaches for operational automation

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience leading infrastructure, observability, or platform engineering teams
• Deep hands-on experience with modern observability platforms such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and incident response workflows
• Experience with cost transparency initiatives, including budgeting and forecasting in cloud environments
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment and make architectural decisions in complex environments
