Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading a team of five engineers, the full-time salaried Software Engineering Manager for Observability will define the strategy for instrumentation standards, optimize observability footprint and spend, and explore AI-driven approaches to enhance system visibility and efficiency, with the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the engineering team responsible for the reliability and scalability of observability platforms
• Own and operate the core observability stack, ensuring high availability and strong data quality
• Establish frameworks for cost attribution and budgeting, enabling informed trade-offs across infrastructure and observability spend

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience leading infrastructure, observability, or platform engineering teams
• Deep hands-on experience with modern observability platforms such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and instrumentation best practices
• Experience driving cost transparency initiatives in cloud environments
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and drive cross-functional alignment
