Job Summary
Assisting in the collection and management of political violence and protest data across South Asia, the part-time South Asia Researcher will work remotely for 15 to 20 hours per week, focusing on coding events and ensuring data quality while analyzing reports from various sources.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and record incidents of political violence by reviewing news and reports from assigned countries
- Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of the data produced
- Participate in extensive training and complete exercises to meet required performance levels
Required qualifications
- University degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, or a related field
- Familiarity with Excel and fluency in English are essential
- Fluency in Bengali is highly preferred, with additional South Asian language proficiency being advantageous
- Experience conducting desk-based research and working to deadlines with limited supervision
- Knowledge of conflict dynamics in South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan
