Job Summary
To support the University Controller's Office, the full-time South Carolina Asset Accountant will manage fixed asset accounting and inventory management, performing complex accounting, reconciliation, compliance, and reporting activities, while working in a hybrid environment that includes both remote and on-site responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the University's fixed asset accounting and inventory management programs, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation of capital asset transactions
- Conduct bi-monthly reconciliations of asset activity between the Fixed Asset Subledger and General Ledger, preparing documentation for annual financial audits
- Oversee the annual inventory process, including training and compliance monitoring, while addressing discrepancies and ensuring accurate asset records
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, fixed assets, or inventory management
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial or ERP systems
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment
