Job Summary

South Carolina Licensed Clinical Documentation Specialist conducts reviews of inpatient electronic medical records to ensure accurate documentation and DRG assignment, working full-time under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review inpatient electronic medical records to identify and address missing or incomplete diagnoses
  • Collaborate with providers to ensure accurate documentation reflecting patient severity and risk of mortality
  • Participate in quality improvement meetings and educational opportunities related to clinical documentation integrity
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of five years clinical nursing experience preferred
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Strong clinical experience and critical thinking skills
