Job Summary

South Carolina Licensed Coder II is a full-time position responsible for abstracting and coding medical records across various departments, ensuring accurate and compliant code assignment for diagnoses and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Abstract and code medical record documentation for inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and emergency services
• Select and sequence appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT-4 codes to ensure compliance with coding guidelines
• Contribute to coding compliance by ensuring timely and accurate assignment of codes and final DRG assignments

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Associate's degree in health information technology or related field, or 5 years of coding experience
• Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) is required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of coding experience with an Associate's degree
• Familiarity with coding software is necessary
• Must possess a coding credential such as RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, or CPC-A
