Job Summary

Responsible for abstracting and coding medical record documentation, the full-time South Carolina Licensed Coder II will ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT-4 codes while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from inpatient, outpatient, and emergency medical records
• Select and sequence appropriate coding to ensure compliance with official guidelines
• Contribute to coding compliance by ensuring timely and accurate code assignments

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in health information technology or related field, or 5 years of coding experience
• Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) is required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of coding experience with an Associate's degree
• Familiarity with coding software and strong analytical skills
• Relevant coding credential from AAPC or AHIMA is mandatory
