Job Summary

Independently managing coding assignments for a diverse range of medical records, the full-time South Carolina Licensed Coder II will assign accurate codes for procedures and diagnoses while ensuring compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate codes for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses and procedures based on medical records
• Interpret complex medical documentation and ensure adherence to official coding guidelines
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and participate in departmental training initiatives to maintain high coding standards

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in health information technology or related field, or 5 years of coding experience
• Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) is required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of coding experience with an Associate's degree
• Familiarity with coding software and strong analytical skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
