Staff AI Developer

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on Staff AI Developer, this full-time remote position will drive the technical direction of a grant research platform by shaping architecture, building critical systems, and implementing AI-powered features across cloud-native SaaS and Python-based data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Product to translate roadmap priorities into technical designs and delivery strategies
• Design and implement features across application, data, and infrastructure layers, while owning core platform architecture
• Build and optimize high-scale background processing systems and investigate production issues for improved reliability

Required qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior or Staff-level engineer in production SaaS or data platforms
• Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and strong hands-on experience with Python (FastAPI preferred)
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL schema design and performance optimization
• Experience with background processing systems and designing production APIs
• Demonstrated AI-first development approach, utilizing LLMs and automation tools
