Staff Android Engineer

Job Summary

To shape the future of productivity on mobile, the full-time Staff Android Engineer will lead architecture and technical strategy for Slack's Android application, working remotely and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from technical exploration to production rollout
• Shape experiences by partnering closely with Product and Design teams while balancing user needs and technical constraints
• Establish best practices for Android development and mentor senior engineers within the Android engineering community

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant experience in building Android applications at scale
• Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development
• Proven track record of leading large technical initiatives with measurable business impact
• Strong understanding of Android architecture, application lifecycle, and performance optimization
• Ability to influence technical direction through collaboration and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders
