Staff Backend Developer

Job Summary

Owning the delivery of significant features and systems, the full-time remote Staff Backend Developer will design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines while driving technical quality and engineering standards across a core product area.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of critical product components, ensuring measurable improvements in system quality and scalability
• Drive system design decisions, balancing scalability, performance, reliability, and cost while mentoring engineers through design and code reviews
• Define and automate quality metrics, testing strategies, and operational readiness processes to enhance system performance and reliability

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of overall experience in software engineering with 3+ years in building and shipping production systems
• Hands-on coding experience in Python and/or TypeScript, with strong system design skills
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production environments
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, and automated testing
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
